How do you get help with Rote?
support@playrote.com is a real mailbox, read by Zachary Hogan. Expect a reply within 10 business days.
It saves a round trip if you include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the Rote version from Settings inside the app, and what you did just before it went wrong. One sentence about what you expected to happen is usually enough.
Cancel or change your subscription
Apple owns your subscription, so this happens in iOS rather than inside Rote.
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, then tap Rote. From there you can switch plan or cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep access until the period you already paid for runs out.
Manage your subscriptions at AppleRefunds
Apple handles all billing and all refunds for App Store purchases. Rote cannot issue one and cannot see your payment details.
Sign in with your Apple Account, pick the purchase and tell Apple what happened.
Request a refund from AppleNew iPhone, same subscription
Rote has no accounts, so there is nothing to log in to. Your subscription is attached to your Apple Account.
Sign in to the same Apple Account you bought with, open Rote, and tap Restore Purchases. If the catalog stays locked after that, email the date of purchase and it gets looked at.
Your recordings, and lost phones
Your recordings sit on the device. There is no Rote server, so there is no copy of them anywhere for us to send you.
If you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, Rote's files can come across with it. That backup is yours and Apple's, not ours. If a recording matters to you, keep your own copy.
Request a pack
There is a Request a pack box inside the app. Type what you want a pack about and send it. Requests are read and counted, and the ones people ask for most get recorded.
Nothing comes back by reply, because a request carries no address. If you want an answer, email instead.
One thing Rote is not
Rote is not medical advice and not treatment for any condition. If you need help beyond an app, please talk to a qualified professional.
Common questions
Is Rote on the App Store yet?
Not yet. The app is being finished and submitted to Apple. This site goes up first, because Apple requires a live privacy page and a live support page before it will review anything.
Do I need an account?
No. Rote has no accounts and no sign-up screen. A subscription attaches to your Apple Account, which is what Restore Purchases uses on a new phone.
What does the free version include?
Unlimited recording of your own voice, unlimited looping, every timer, background playback, one full catalog track and a 60 second preview of every other track. No card, no expiry.
How do I cancel?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Rote, then Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep access until that period runs out.
Can I get a refund?
Apple decides refunds for everything bought through the App Store, and Rote cannot issue one. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com with your Apple Account.
I subscribed and the tracks are still locked.
Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account you paid with. If it stays locked, email the date of purchase and it gets sorted.
Does it keep playing with the screen off?
Rote is built to keep looping with the screen off and with the ringer on silent, because most sessions happen at bedtime. If playback stops, check that Low Power Mode is off and email us what you saw.
Can you recover a recording from a phone I lost?
No. There is no Rote server and no copy for us to reach. Recordings are on the device, and any backup is your own iCloud or computer backup, held by Apple.
Is there an Android version?
No. Rote is iPhone only today, and there is no Android date to give you.
