What Rote collects

Rote does not ask for your name, email address or a login. It does not read the advertising identifier (IDFA), location or contacts, and it uses no crash reporting. Its one measurement partner, AppsFlyer, is described below and never runs on an EU, EEA, UK or Swiss App Store account.

The app makes network requests for subscription access, for advertising measurement where that runs, and when you choose to send a pack request.

Rote does not use AI, transcription or speech-recognition services for recordings.

Where your recordings and your history live

Recordings and session history live in Rote’s app folder on your iPhone. Rote has no cloud copy of them.

If iCloud Backup is enabled, Apple may include Rote’s app data in your device backup. Rote cannot view or manage that backup. You can review iCloud Backup in your iPhone settings.

Deleting a recording in Rote deletes the audio file from the device. Deleting the app removes everything Rote stored. A copy can survive in an iCloud backup you already made, until that backup is replaced or deleted.

The microphone

Microphone access is used when you choose to record your own line. If you decline, the rest of Rote still works.

Recorded audio is saved as an app file on your iPhone and is not transcribed.

Subscriptions and Apple

Subscriptions are sold by Apple through in-app purchase. Apple takes the payment. Rote never sees your card, your billing address or your Apple Account details.

Rote uses RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage Premium access. RevenueCat receives purchase history and uses an anonymous app user identifier that Rote does not connect to a name, email address or Rote account.

There are no accounts in Rote, so Restore Purchases works against your Apple Account instead of a login.

Apple and RevenueCat process purchase information under their own privacy terms.

Advertising measurement

Outside the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Rote uses AppsFlyer (AppsFlyer Ltd.) to measure which of our own adverts brought someone to the app. AppsFlyer receives a device identifier, the fact Rote was installed and opened, and, through RevenueCat, whether a trial or subscription started, renewed or was cancelled.

Rote never asks for tracking permission and never reads the advertising identifier (IDFA), so this data is never combined with data from other companies and never used to build an advertising profile. We do not sell it.

AppsFlyer reports install and subscription events to the advertising platform that showed the advert, so that platform can measure its own campaign. It receives no name, email address, recording or history.

Pack requests

When you use Request a pack, the message you type is sent to playrote.com and used to plan future packs.

The request includes only the text you enter. Do not include personal information in the message.

This website

Rote does not add advertising or analytics tools to playrote.com.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the service. Those logs are Vercel's, under Vercel's privacy policy, and they are not linked to anything in the app.

Who else is involved

Apple processes App Store purchases. RevenueCat validates subscription access. AppsFlyer measures our own advertising outside the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Vercel hosts this website.

Rote does not use data brokers or email-list services. Advertising platforms receive only the measurement events described above, never a recording, a name or an email address.

Children

Rote is not made for children and is not directed to them.

Your rights

You control recordings and session history from the app and your device. Contact us with questions about information submitted through a pack request.

You can delete recordings in the app. Deleting the app removes Rote’s local data from the device.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page before making a material change to how Rote handles information.
